With 19 years of experience in public health, Mrs. Mays is a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) dedicated to helping individuals achieve sustainable wellness, drawing from her journey of managing chronic health conditions. She understands firsthand the challenges of navigating chronic illness, including the frustrations of limited support from providers, family, and friends. This personal experience fuels her passion and empathy, allowing her to connect deeply with clients and provide the encouragement they need.
Her career spans multiple sectors, including state government agencies and nonprofits across Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina, with expertise in HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health, organ and tissue donation, occupational health, and health coaching. Her skills in project management and grant administration further support her in building effective, client-centered wellness programs.
Born and raised in South Carolina, Mrs. Mays holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Clemson University and a Master of Public Health from the University of South Carolina. She maintains certifications as a Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES), Project Management Professional (PMP), and National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC), underscoring her commitment to quality and evidence-based care.
Beyond her role in public health, she is the founder of The Gestational Diabetes (GD) Mama, a subscription box company supporting women with gestational diabetes by providing tailored resources that empower their health journey. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated, and enjoys family time with her husband, two toddler daughters, stepson, and stepdaughter.
